PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image noise reduction method and an image pickup device for correcting image noise caused by blink defective pixels by simple processing. SOLUTION: The image noise reduction method of an image pickup device equipped with a solid-state image pickup element comprises an image pickup step for picking up a subject by a solid-state image pickup element; a solid-state image pickup element temperature detection step for detecting the temperature of the solid-state image pickup element; an image noise data acquisition step for acquiring image noise data outputted by the solid-state image pickup element, the prescribed number of times based on a charge storage time in an image pickup step and the temperature of the solid-state image pickup element detected in a solid-state image pickup element temperature detection step in such a state that the solid-state image pickup element is shielded; a correction data preparation step for preparing correction data based on the image noise data acquired in the image noise data acquisition step; and an image correction step for correcting the image data acquired in the image pickup step based on the correction data prepared in the correction data preparation step.
