PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray generator for an X-ray inspection device capable of rapidly increasing/decreasing an application voltage to an X-ray tube, and of continuously generating an X-ray having a varying output at high frequencies. SOLUTION: This X-ray generator is provided with: the X-ray tube 10 for generating an X-ray by generating thermoelectrons from a negative electrode 12, accelerating them by an application voltage and making them collide with a positive electrode 14; and a generator 20 of a varying voltage generated by varying the application voltage in a sinusoidal form of a constant cycle. The generator 20 of a varying voltage includes: a D.C. high-voltage circuit 22 for generating a D.C. component of the application voltage; and an A.C. high-voltage circuit 24 for generating an A.C. component of the application voltage. The negative terminal 23a of the D.C. high-voltage circuit 22 is connected to the negative electrode of the X-ray tube, and the positive terminal 23b of the D.C. high-voltage circuit is grounded through a tube-current detection resistor 22e. The A.C. high-voltage circuit 24 has a pair of output terminals 25a and 25b, the one-side terminal 25a thereof is connected to the positive electrode of the X-ray tube, and the other-side terminal 25b is grounded.
