PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which can hold the same security strength as conventional systems while reducing a burden on a user in password input work. SOLUTION: When a power source is started, connection state of external equipment connected to the navigation system are acquired. When the power source is stopped, connection states of external equipment are acquired in the same manner. In the navigation system having the above configuration, a password is not requested when connection state of external equipment which are acquired when staring the power source of a main body coincide with those acquired when stopping the power source at the previous time. In the same manner, a current position of a vehicle is acquired using a GPS or the like when the power source is started, and the current position of the vehicle is acquired when the power source is stopped. The password is not requested when the current position of the vehicle which is acquired when the power source is started coincides with that acquired when the power source is stopped at the previous time.
