A flat panel display device and a picture quality control method and apparatus thereof are provided to remove a Mura pattern from a displayed image by adjusting brightness at the Mura position. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a display panel(103), a compensation circuit(105), a data driving circuit(101), a gate driving circuit(102), and a timing controller(104). Data lines and gate lines are arranged to form LCD cells on the display panel. The compensation circuit generates compensated digital video data. The data driving circuit converts the compensated digital video data to an analog data voltage and supplies the result to the data lines. The gate driving circuit supplies a scan pulse to the gate lines. The timing controller controls the data and gate driving circuits. The compensation circuit receives the digital video data from a system interface and modulates the digital video data to form the compensated digital video data.
