<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor element capable of preventing output deviation, and suppressing endurance deterioration of a catalyst function in a catalyst support trap layer. <P>SOLUTION: This gas sensor element 1 has a solid electrolyte body having oxygen ion conductivity, a measuring gas side electrode and a reference gas side electrode formed on one surface and on the other surface of the solid electrolyte body respectively, a porous diffusion resistance layer 12 covering the measuring gas side electrode and through which the measuring gas passes, and a catalyst support trap layer 2 formed on the outer surface 120 of the porous diffusion resistance layer 12 and supporting a catalyst noble metal 22. The catalyst noble metal 22 supported by the catalyst support trap layer 2 comprises platinum, rhodium, and palladium.
