PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a polishing process which is necessary and enough for the periphery of an a-Si photoreceptor according to a status while restraining a waste of consumption of toner during a polishing mode for the periphery of the a-Si photoreceptor. SOLUTION: In the polishing mode for the photoreceptor drum 101, toner is supplied to the periphery of the photoreceptor drum so as to satisfy a condition expressed by (VO-Vdc1)>(VO-Vdc2), wherein VO is the surface potential when the periphery of the photoreceptor drum 101 is not exposed, Vdc1 is a DC bias voltage applied to a developing roller 1031 in a developing section 103 in a regular image formation mode, and Vdc2 is a bias voltage applied to the developing roller 1031 in the developing section103 in the polishing mode for the photoreceptor drum 101.
