PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing for a machine tool using a retainer, capable of exercising high reliability by a grease lubricating method, even when it is incorporated in a main spindle of the machine tool rotating at high speed. SOLUTION: The rolling bearing for a machine tool is comprised by providing an inner ring 1, an outer ring 2, a plurality of rolling elements 3 interposed between the inner ring 1 and the outer ring 2, and the synthetic resin retainer 4 retaining the plurality of rolling elements 3, and it is used in main spindle support of the machine tool. The synthetic resin retainer 4 is comprised by impregnating a resin porous body having communication holes with lubricant. Lubricating grease is sealed around the plurality of the rolling elements 3, and the lubricant impregnated in the resin porous body, and base oil of the lubricating grease mutually dissolve in rolling bearing operating environment conditions.
