A component information restoring method is provided for an electronic apparatus with first and second replaceable components in which non-volatile memories for storing component inherent information are installed. The component information restoring method includes a first non-volatile memory of the first component which stores component inherent information for the first component and which protects component inherent information for the second component at replacement time of the second component as first checking information, and a second non-volatile memory of the second component which stores component inherent information for the second component and which protects component inherent information for the first component at replacement time of the first component as second checking information, so that the first checking information is restored in the second non-volatile memory or the second checking information is restored in the first non-volatile memory at the replacing time of the first or second component on a basis of a result from a comparison of the first checking information stored in the first non-volatile memory with the component inherent information for the second component stored in the second non-volatile memory and that from a comparison of the second checking information stored in the second non-volatile memory with the component inherent information of the first component stored in the first non-volatile memory.
