The gaseous substance used for an anesthesia is mixed in a particular device (1) and information about its amount transmitted to the control unit (11). Steam and expiratory gas are also guided through the system and their amount is determined. The difference between the gas input and the expiratory flow is considered the pure anesthetic gas flow. The volume of the breathing flow, and temperature differences are also determined and the consumption level of gas established in order to prevent a waste of the substance.
