The present invention refers to a meter for measuring the level of a liquid contained in a tank, such as liquefied propane gas. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a meter useful for stationary, mobile and portable tanks, which may provide a performance more accurate than conventional meters having an arm and a float member which are currently used in the domestic gas industry, the inventive meter also being a cost effective solution due to the dimensions of the components, as well as the number of parts thereof. The present meter is also actuated in vertical tanks having a reduced diameter, which is practically impossible with arm and float member meters.
