<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method for properly correcting density by obtaining a proper pixel density value corresponding to a received original image. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a density arithmetic processing section 11 that obtains an arithmetic average of RGB components of pixels of received original image data as an input pixel density value; and a density correction processing section 14 that corrects density so as to obtain a prescribed gradation characteristic on the basis of the input pixel density value calculated and derived by the density arithmetic processing section 11. The density arithmetic processing section 11 obtains a weighted average calculated on the basis of a maximum value of the RGB components and the arithmetic average of the RGB components on the basis of a weight coefficient set to each prescribed region on a hue saturation table (HueSat table) to which each pixel belongs as the input pixel density value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
