PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver for disclosing information data of a received emergency warning broadcast to a user, even if a BML (Broadcast Markup Language) document can not be received, only when receiving the emergency warning broadcast. SOLUTION: An emergency warning signal is detected and an emergency warning broadcast is received (S01). In that case, it is decided from an emergency warning identifier whether this emergency warning is a first class signal or a second class signal (S02). Information data from a broadcast enterpriser are then stored in a data storage section (S03). At a point of time when a predetermined time has passed, it is confirmed whether a BML document describing picture layout has been received (S05). I such a BML document has not been received, the information data stored in the data storage section are forcibly displayed on a screen (S07). A description reporting contents of the emergency warning broadcast for "earthquake" in the case of the first class signal or the emergency warning broadcast for "tsunami" in the case of the second class signal is simultaneously displayed in a part of the screen displaying the information data (S09, S10).
