PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and mobile terminal in which browsing of data can be restricted. SOLUTION: A communication system (electronic file protection system) 100 is constituted by connecting a mail server 109 and a plurality of mobile terminals 101a, 101b, 101c or the like via a network 107. The mobile terminals 101a, 101b, 101c are owned by users A103a, B103b, C103c, respectively. A plug-in type IC card 110 is loaded in the mobile terminal 101 and data of an address book 330 or the like are held. When exchanging personal information data 310 using both transmitting and receiving mobile terminals 101, an electronic certificate 311 is added in addition to information such as a telephone number or a mail address, and the electronic certificate of a transmission source user is stored in the address book 330 of the transmission destination mobile terminal 101.
