PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a printing time to be shortened while reducing paper waste generated by printing. SOLUTION: The thermal printer is equipped with a capstan roller 12 and a pinch roller 13 for conveying a rolled sheet 41, a thermal head 10 and a platen roller 11. The capstan roller 12 and the pinch roller 13 are arranged at the upstream of the platen roller 11 in the feed direction of the rolled sheet 41 which travels to a paper discharge side from a paper feeding side. The platen roller 11 is able to convey the rolled sheet 41 to the feeding direction by a revolution driving and performs the printing by making the pinch roller 13 and the platen roller 11 drive jointly while conveying the rolled sheet 41 to the feeding direction.
