PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cavity retaining tool for surgical operation which can acquire a sufficient visual field and a sufficient space for operation work and can easily perform low-invasion surgical operation in spite that only local pressure removal of a small necessary minimum degree is required. SOLUTION: This invention is a sheath for surgical operation used by inserting into a body through a body tissue, and is equipped with a cavity retaining member 11 for retaining a cavity for operation work in the body, and a soft tubular sheet member 12 which is communicated with the cavity formed by this cavity retaining member 11, and communicates this cavity to the outside of the body. By inserting an endoscope, a treating tool for operation or the like into the cavity formed by the cavity retaining member 11 through the inside of the soft tubular sheet member 12, a surgical operation can be easily performed without strongly excluding the body tissue.
