A medical record management system which includes a patient identification system operable to determine the identity of a patient, a database containing patient information, and a data interface connectable to a remote terminal containing patient information. A method of managing medical records, which includes identifying a patient, storing patient information on a database, and permitting remote access to the database for making available the patient information stored on the database.
