<p>Compulsory stopping bays for drivers traveling in the wrong direction on a motorway or divided dual carriageway comprise stopping bays (21,22) between the carriageways on the central reservation (12). Due to the action of the driver (28) in traveling in the wrong direction an optical wrong direction signal (25) is activated by means of a signal transmitter (23) and at least one signal transmitter (24) stops the action of the driver in the bay with a message.</p>
