<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology whereby a broadcast program whose recording or like processing is executed can properly be selected. <P>SOLUTION: A character string conversion section 22 applies conversion processing, of converting katakana letters (Japanese syllabary) included in a keyword and a title into Roman characters, to the keyword and the title of the broadcast program included in EPG data. A discrimination section 22 compares the keyword subjected to the conversion processing with the title subjected to the conversion processing to discriminate whether the title includes the keyword. Then the discriminated broadcast program whose title includes the keyword is selected as an object of video recording reservation.
