PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator allowing easy adjustment of its operating performance and assuring a less dispersion in the performance. SOLUTION: A gas generating agent molding 7 to make combustion for generating the gas and an igniting means (sheet-form heat emitting body 36) to ignite and burn the gas generating agent molding 7 are installed inside a housing 3 having a gas exhaust hole 11. The gas generating agent molding 7 has a combustion starting end face 40, taking such a condition that the end face 40 and the heat emitting body 36 as igniting means are contacting.
