PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber-reinforced resin shaft for a Japanese archery arrow which can satisfy characteristics such as bending strength and bending elasticity according to requested performance simultaneously with reduction in weight. SOLUTION: In this shaft for Japanese archery arrow, the mass of the shaft is 15 g or more and 20 g or less, at least one layer in a fiber-reinforced resin layer is formed of a low-elasticity layer consisting of a reinforcing fiber having a tensile elasticity of not less than 40 GPa and not more than 100 GPa, and the spine value of the shaft is not less than 400 and not more than 900.
