<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery capable of keeping high performance in repeated charge discharge cycles in shallow charge depth. <P>SOLUTION: In the lithium ion secondary battery, a nonaqueous electrolyte contains at least one kind of compounds represented by formula (1), formula (2), formula (3), compounds having S-F bond in a molecule, nitrates, nitrites, monofluorophosphates, difluorophosphates, acetates, and propionates, and a negative active material contains heterogeneous orientation carbon composites.
