PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silane coupling agent not only imparting excellent hydrophobicity to a powder, but also having improved washability thereof. SOLUTION: The silane coupling agent is represented by general formula (1) and (2) (wherein, R1is a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group; R2is a 2-3C alkylene group; X is a group selected from -NHCOO-, -NHCONH- and -NHCO-; R3is a group selected from a 1-11C alkylene group, an alkenylene group and a group represented by general formula (2); R4is a 0-2C alkylene group or alkenylene group; and M1is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent metal atom).
