1,167,326. Transistor pulse frequency dividers. BERNARD GOLAY S.A. 18 Nov., 1966 [16 June, 1966], No. 51789/66. Heading H3Ti A frequency divider comprises a currentcontrolled negative resistance device T2, T3 which is triggered by every nth pulse of a pulse train to charge a capacitor C and produce an output pulse. Application of an input pulse at E switches on transistor T1. The resulting fall in potential at point 3 is transmitted to point 2 and switches on transistors T2, T3 so that capacitor C charges with point 2 rising towards + U, until T2, T3 again cut off. At the end of the input pulse T1 also cuts off, point 3 rises to + U and point 2 rises to near 2U. Capacitor C then commences to discharge until the potential across it is sufficiently small for a further input pulse to cause T2, T3 to switch again. T2, T3 may be replaced by an equivalent single device. In a first modification. Fig. 4 (not shown), diodes (D1, D2 or D3) may be included to provide compensation for variations in U. In a second modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the input pulses are applied to the base of T2.
