PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stand for supporting an article such as a television monitor or a tableware tray for use in a bed. SOLUTION: Fulcrums (a) and (b) of a spring 3 are provided inside square-shaped hollow pipes 1 and 2 fitted to each other and the spring is stretched in the direction of superposing the square-shaped hollow pipes. Movable joint parts of the square-shaped hollow pipes 1 and 2 are provided with friction resistance plates 4 and 5 formed of resin-based material, and the movable joint parts are operated and fixed to optional positions by the frictional force and the tensile force of the spring. The fitting part of the pipe 1 and the pipe 2 has a D-shaped or polygonal through-hole (c) to be worked as a detent, and the pipes are fastened and prevented from being loosened by a fixing bolt 7, a fixing nut 6 and a fixing washer 8 with a lug. An axial bolt 11 attached with a television monitor at its tip and having a constricted-shape groove is pressure-narrowed with the friction resistance plates 9 and 10 of resin-based material and fixed to a stay 12.
