PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of saving water without using a detergent, and capable of saving water when the detergent is used as well. SOLUTION: The washing machine comprises an outer tub 2 for storing washing water inside an outer frame 1, a washing/spinning tub 3 for storing the laundry inside the outer tub, and a water saving tub 4 for temporarily storing drain water from the outer tub 2. Water softened by a water softening device 5 is fed to the outer tub 2, and the softened water is heated with steam to hot water. In the washing without using the detergent, a pump 21 is operated, water is circulated from the water saving tub 4 via the outer tub 2 to return to the water saving tub 4, and ozone fine bubbles generated in a fine bubble generating device 22 are fed into the circulated water for washing. On the other hand, in the washing using the detergent, water in the water saving tub 4 is circulated in the washing process by the pump 21, and ozone fine bubbles generated in the fine bubble generating device 22 are mixed in the circulated water to make ozone water. The ozone water is used for rinsing. The final rinsing water is drained and stored in the water saving tub 4 for the next washing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
