PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline dry cell capable of facilitating the positioning of an insulation ring of the alkaline dry cell to enhance productivity and of reducing product failures. SOLUTION: This alkaline dry cell is provided with: a bottomed cylindrical positive electrode can 1 doubling as a positive electrode terminal; a hollow cylindrical positive electrode mix 2 arranged in the positive electrode can; and a gelatinous zinc negative electrode 4 filled in a hollow part of the positive electrode mix through a bottomed cylindrical separator 3; and is structured such that the short circuit-preventing insulation ring 9 is installed outside a crimp part of an opening of the positive electrode can. Displacement and dropout of the insulation ring in an assembly process can be prevented by using, for the insulation ring, a member having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of a metal sealing plate 8 being a negative electrode terminal, and having three or more projecting parts on its inside-diameter side surface.
