PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high-quality read data by relieving the read data even when the read data are inferior in quality, in a data read method and a data storage device. SOLUTION: The same data are read for multiple times from the same region on a recording medium. The data read for multiple times are compared by the unit of one or a plurality of bits. The read data composed of data values having the highest frequency are generated for each unit on the basis of the comparison result.
