PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out a predetermined function by controlling a PC 4 on a master side from an HDD video camera 2 on a slave side by simple constitution. SOLUTION: In an information processing system 1 including the PC 4 on the master side and the HDD video camera 2 on the slave side which are connected to each other, the HDD video camera 2, in accordance with a button operation by a user, creates and stores a function identification file "DVDBURN. IND" for making the PC 4 create a video file storing DVD. The PC 4 detects a logical connection of the HDD video camera 2 and thereafter, when the function identification file of the file system of the HDD video camera exists, the PC 4 starts a DVD creation application program automatically.
