PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus or the like for easily removing a recording medium adhering to an image carrier such as a photoreceptor drum and an intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a belt unit 50 including the intermediate transfer belt 20, and a movable unit 60 for movably integrating a lower mechanism of the intermediate transfer belt 20. The movable unit 60 comprises a recording paper release mechanism 70 having a release sheet 71. The release sheet 71 is separated from the intermediate transfer belt 20 at a storing position by the movable unit 60, and is composed to act so as to release recording paper PJ adhering to be moved by being contacted on the intermediate transfer belt 20 by movement of the movable unit 60.
