PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separating device used in a waste thermal decomposition device capable of reducing the quantity of char particles accompanying a thermal decomposition gas by improving a centrifugal separation function, and reducing pressure loss. SOLUTION: This separating device 30 comprises a cylindrical casing 31 through which the thermal decomposition gas passes, and a ribbon screw 35 positioned in the casing, having a spiral blade wound along an inner face of the casing, and provided with a central flow channel 35a through which the thermal decomposition gas can pass, on a central axis of the spiral blade. The separating device 31 comprises an inlet pipe 32 and an outlet pipe 33 opened to an inner peripheral face of the casing 31 for allowing the thermal decomposition gas to flow, and a central axis of the inlet pipe and a central axis CL of the casing are disposed at a distance s1.
