PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition having deodorization action and giving excellent hand feel to hydrophobic chemical fibers such as acryl/polyester and the like. SOLUTION: The detergent composition comprises (A) an anionic surfactant, (B) a hydroxypropylmethylcellulose having≥100,000 weight average molecular weight, (C) a bleaching activator expressed by following formula (I) or (II), and(D) a bleaching agent. RCOO-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>4</SB>-COOM (I), RCOO-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>4</SB>-SO<SB>3</SB>M (II), wherein R expresses a straight chain or branched chain 9-11C alkyl or alkenyl; M expresses H or a salt forming cation.
