PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a polyarylene sulfide resin generating little gas and smell, and suitable for a lamp case part and a surrounding part of a printer, a projector, a rear projection TV or the like in which the generation of the smell is disliked, in home electric appliance products, OA (office automation) equipment or the like; to provide a polyarylene sulfide resin composition obtained by using the treated polyarylene sulfide resin; and to provide a molded product obtained by molding the composition. SOLUTION: The method for treating the polyarylene sulfide resin involves heating a polyarylene sulfide resin so that the ratio (A)/(B) may be≤0.6 [wherein, (A) is the rate of change of weight between the not-heat-treated polyarylene sulfide resin before heating and the not-heat-treated polyarylene sulfide resin after 4 hr heating at 200°C in a vacuum condition; and (B) is the rate of change of weight between the heat-treated polyarylene sulfide resin before heating and the heat-treated polyarylene sulfide resin after 4 hr heating at 200°C in a vacuum condition].
