PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet supply device and an image forming device capable of surely supplying a sheet in a short time, even if the sheets of upper limit capacities are placed on a lifting plate for lifting a document placed on a document tray. SOLUTION: In a document set position, when detecting a document bundle on the document tray by a set switch 603, when an upper limit switch 311 detecting that the lifting plat exists in a carrying proper position is in an on-state, a preliminary operation control part 602 drives a lift motor 503 so as to be liftable by a backlash quantity of a driving system gear of the lifting plate. Thus, even if the lifting plate is brought in a state of being not driven once so as to be liftable after placing the document bundle on the document tray, lifting driving can be started without a delay.
