PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear having a relatively simple construction for controlling the characteristics of two valves to be independently varied. SOLUTION: The variable valve gear 1 comprises two drive cams 13 provided on one cam shaft 4. A rocking arm 5 is connected to a rocker arm 6 which opens/closes the two valves 12, to separately transmit the power of the drive cam 13 to the rocker arm 6. A varying device 23 turns two variable cams 25, 26 via a control shaft 7 by an actuator 24 and separately transmits the power of the variable cams 25, 26 to the rocking arm 5 via a contactor 30 on variable arms 27, 28 to change the displacement of the rocking arm 5 per one rotation of the drive cam 13 depending on the operated condition of an engine. The variable cams 25, 26 have cam faces 25a, 26a different in profile for differentiating the displacement of two rocking arms 25, 26 to generate swirl in a cylinder. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
