PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual field retaining device 2 which is excellent in versatility, surely suppresses glare due to a reflected light from a road surface or the like positioned at the obliquely downward at the front, and can safely use by a driver. SOLUTION: The visual field retaining device 2 is equipped with a shielding part 6 having a polarizing filter 32, and a mounting part 4 mounted to a sun visor 10 of a vehicle. The polarizing filter 32 can suppress transmission of the reflected light vibrating in the horizontal direction. Preferably, the angle of a polarization axis of the polarizing filter 32 formed with respect to the horizontal direction is 60°or more and 90°or less. Preferably, the visual field retaining device 2 is equipped with a turning part 8. The turning part 8 is equipped with an outer cylindrical member connected to the mounting part 4, and a shaft member connected to the shielding part 6. The outer cylindrical part is hollow.
