A method is provided for manufacturing an article (12,36) from particulate material, especially articles such as tubes (12) and other components (36) for fuel cells. The method comprises injecting particulate material through an injection flow path (30) into a mould cavity (14) under low pressure and using a piston (32) to apply the pressure to the particulate material in the flow path (30). The dimensions of the flow path (30) are large enough and the pressure in the particulate material is low enough to avoid excessive shear forces within particulate material in the flow path (30), so as to avoid flow restrictions caused by the dilitant effect. The invention extends to articles (12,36) made by the method. |
