PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for a front passenger seat capable of restraining upward movement of an occupant restraining surface of an air bag in completing inflation or in restraining an occupant. SOLUTION: The air bag device M for the front passenger seat develops and expands so as to block a region to the rear of an inner panel 1 from the neighborhood of a peripheral edge of an opening 22 for projection of an inner panel upper surface 1a when gas G for inflation flows in as the air bag 24 is mounted on and stored in a case 13 arranged below the opening 22 for projection of the inner panel upper surface 1a. The air bag 24 is furnished with an air bag main body 25 and a supporting bag 44. The air bag main body 25 completes inflation so as to make a rear surface become the occupant restraining surface 27 to catch the occupant by extending to the rear from the neighborhood of the peripheral edge of the opening 22 for projection. The supporting bag 44 completes inflation between a lower surface 26f on the front end side on a peripheral wall of the air bag main body 25 opposed in the vertical direction in completing inflation and the inner panel upper surface 1a in the neighborhood of a front side portion 2a of the peripheral edge of the opening for projection.
