A substrate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to simplify the manufacturing process, by simultaneously forming column spacers and partition walls for forming color filters. Gate lines(GL) and data lines(DL) crossing the gate lines are respectively formed above a substrate(301). Thin film transistors are formed at crossing portions of the gate lines and the data lines. An organic insulating layer(370) is formed on the resultant substrate including the thin film transistors. First partition walls(410) disposed at boundary regions between pixels, second partition walls for forming contact holes, and column spacers(430) are simultaneously formed by using a predetermined photo-mask. Color filters(450) are respectively formed within regions defined by the first partition walls. Contact holes are formed to expose portions of the thin film transistors by using the second partition walls. Pixel electrodes(380) are formed, wherein the pixel electrodes are connected to the thin film transistors through the contact holes. |
