<p>Thermoplastic compositions obtained by mixing or graft copolymerising (in the form of latices), (A) 60-98% of a vinyl chloride homopolymer or copolymer with up to 10% comonomer, and (B) 2-40% of a polymer contng. 25-75% vinyl chloride and 75-25% of a monomer, CH2=CRZ where R is H or CH3, and Z is COOR' or OR" in which R', R" are 1-20C alkyl. Preferably preparation is by adding (B) to a polymerisation system of (A) which has already reacted to at least 60% conversion and is especially between 70% and 80% conversion, and continuing the graft copolymerisation to 90-95% conversion. Moulded articles, especially films and sheets, have particularly smooth and glossy surfaces. Use is as packaging materials.</p> |
