A plastic protective cap (11) for an aerosol package (10) having a canister (12) with a valve (15) and top rim (14), in the cap is moulded in one piece to provide a top (21) with downwardly projecting skirt (18), preferably sitting in a recess (20) round the main rim of the aerosol body (12), and a concentric set of downwardly projecting curved flexible wall sections (22) with inwardly projecting lugs (22a) at the bottom ends thereof, which can be sprung over the rim (14) and grip this underneath, thus ensuring a firm reliable closure. A re-entrant region (25) is provided near the base of the outer skirt (18) so that a suitable lever can be inserted to force off the cap when desired. The cap can be moulded in a polyolefine, e.g. high density polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene or olefine copolymers. The lugs (22a) can be constructed as parts which break away when the aerosol cap is removed initially. After use the cap is replaced and held by friction on the rim (14). |
