1,208,875. Cutting sheet. ORBO A.B. 28 March, 1969 [2 April, 1968], No. 16465/69. Heading B4B. A machine for cutting material stripwise comprises cutting discs 31 spaced on a rotary shaft 15, a roller 35 whose axis lies substantially parallel to the shaft 15 and has a resilient surface 37, e.g. of rubber, for engagement with the cutting edges of the discs 31, guide means 45 extending between the discs 31, and means for applying lubricant to their cutting edges, the shaft 15 and roller 35 being drivable so that the discs 31 have a substantially greater peripheral speed than the roller 35, and sheet for cutting being feedable between the guide means 45 and the roller 35 for transport by the latter; the disc cutting edges partially penetrate the roller surface 35, while the guide means 45 lead the severed strips away from the discs 31. The lubricating means comprise a porous roller 53, e.g. of foam rubber, penetrated by the blades 31 and drawing lubricant, e.g. silicone oil, from a reservoir 55. Drive from a geared motor 29 is transmitted through a belt 27 to gears (19)- (23), Fig. 2 (not shown), whereby the shaft 15 and rollers 35, 53 are rotated. The process is particularly suited to laminated sheets including adhesive layers which tend to adhere to conventional blades, tongues (49), Fig. 2 (not shown), of the guide means 45 disengaging the strips from the blades 31 for delivery to a receiving table 61. |
