1,217,445. Encapsulating solids. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. 24 March, 1969 [12 April, 1968], No.15285/69. Heading B8C. Capsules containing solids are made by encapsulating a liquid dispersion or solution of the solid by any conventional process (mechanically, by interfacial polymerization or liquid/ liquid phase separation) and, thereafter, establishing a dispersion of the capsules in a liquid which is partially miscible with that in the capsules whereby the liquid in the capsules is removed to leave an encapsulated solid. A solid which absorbs the extracted liquid may be present in the treating liquid and the liquid may be containuously changed during the process to assist in the extraction of the encapsulated liquid. In examples aqueous dispersions of various medicaments are encapsulated in ethyl cellulose by liquid/liquid phase separation and the water is removed by treating with cyclohexane containing silica gel. |
