An IDS using extracted HTTP request information and a URL blocking method using the same are provided to recognize harmful traffic from all traffics generated in the network irrespective of an environment of an HTTP proxy server by extracting http request information of blocking a URL request. . A packet extractor(22) extracts packet information related to an HTTP request from all traffics received from client terminals. A URL extractor(23) extracts URL information from the extracted packet information. A hash algorithm(24) generates a hash value of the URL information. A hash table(26) stores the information of the URLs to be blocked. A controller(25) compares the generated hash value with the URL information stored in the hash table and determines to block the traffic depending on a comparison result.
