Apparatus and method for transmitting air intake sound

An air intake sound transmission device of a vehicle is disclosed. The air intake sound transmission device comprises an intake channel (2-5) and an engine hood (10). The engine hood has a vibratory portion. The intake channel connects an inlet of an engine (2) to a fresh-air inlet (3). The intake channel further includes an opening (7) positioned at an intermediate section thereof. The opening (7) faces the engine hood (10) and transmits pressure fluctuations in the intake channel caused by operation of the engine to the vibratory portion of the engine hood (10). The vibratory portion of the engine hood (10) vibrates in response to the pressure fluctuations to generate an air intake sound that is audible to occupants of the vehicle. A method of generating an air intake sound is also disclosed.
