An apparatus and a method for automatically selecting an RF antenna of an RF terminal are provided to smoothly carry out data communication with various types of RF cards by including one or more antennas in an RF terminal for receiving/transmitting data between the RF terminal and the RF card. First and second RF antennas(111,112) perform data communication with an RF card. An RF card module(120) receives data from one or more RF antennas. A switching module unit(150) performs a switching operation according to receive sensitivity of data transmitted from the RF card module. A receive sensitivity measurement unit(160) measures receive sensitivity of data transmitted from the switching module unit. A controller(130) controls the switching module unit according to the receive sensitivity value transmitted from the receive sensitivity measurement unit.
