The invention of the parent Specification is applied to a junction piece of the kind used for connecting a W.C. pan outlet to a vertical riser of a soil pipe stack, where the branch pipe to which the pan is connected is required to subtend an angle of between 91¢ degrees and 104 degrees relative to the riser, according to the building configuration, and accordingly the junction piece, of rigid P.V.C., comprises two components 1 and 9, each including a curved pipe portion 2 and 12, respectively, which are curved to the same radius but of different diameters so that the portion 2 can be fitted closely within the portion 12 and abut against a shoulder 13 in sealing relation, the portion 2 having previously been cut to cause the desired angle to be subtended between the two components. Component 1 comprises a straight stack pipe portion having a spigot 3 at its lower end, a socket 4, grooved at 7 to receive a sealing ring, at its upper end, and a branch integrally formed with it consisting of the curved portion 2. An enlarged throat portion 5 extends from a point beyond that reached by the portion 12 when the largest angle is being subtended, to ensure smooth flow from the branch into the riser which is of larger diameter. The component 9 comprises a socket having a groove 10 to receive a sealing ring and with which the portion 12 and a rib 13 providing the shoulder 14 are integrally formed. Sealing between the two components is preferably ensured by solvent welding or cementing of the portions 2, 12 together. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the groove 10 is omitted from the socket 9 and the rib 13 is in the form of an internal flange. A junction piece comprising more than two components to provide two or more branches may be similarly constructed. |
