Provided are a water supply device for a fuel cell which needs no pump for supplying water to a reformer and is reduced in noise and the consumption of electricity, and a fuel cell system containing the water supply device. A water supply device(70) comprises a container(71) which has a certain volume, stores water and stores the fuel which is in gaseous phase at atmospheric pressure and at a room temperature; and a separator(78) which comes in contact with the water and the fuel between the water and the fuel to transfer the pressure of the fuel to the water and to separate the fuel and the water for preventing the mixing of the fuel and the water. Preferably the container is provided with a water opening part where water is flown inwards or outwards, and a fuel opening part where fuel is flown inwards or outwards.
