Provided is a composition comprising an extract of Rhododendron mucronulatum having strong prostaglandin E inhibitory activity and antibacterial activity so as to treat atopic dermatitis without side effects. The composition for treating atopic dermatitis comprises 0.01-30 wt.% of an extract of Rhododendron mucronulatum which is prepared by extracting Rhododendron mucronulatum two times using at least one polar solvent selected from the group consisting of water, methanol and ethanol at a temperature of 50-100 deg.C for 5-10 hours, filtering an extract and concentrating it under reduced pressure.
