METHOD FOR PROVIDING EMOTICON TRANSMIT SERVICE BETWEEN CLIENTS OF DIFFERENT INSTANT MESSENGERS

A method for providing an emoticon transfer service between clients using different IM services is provided to enable users using the different IM services to conveniently communicate with each other by managing and converting emoticon information of the different IM services based on an emoticon conversion table. A server generates a list of emoticon semantics to be converted(S105). Emoticon text defined in the first and second IM service is requested to connect the emoticon semantics included in the list with an emoticon image corresponding to the emoticon semantics(S115). The emoticon text defined in each IM service is registered as emoticon conversion information based on a response to an emoticon text request(S135). If a message transfer between the first and second IM client is requested, the emoticon text included in the message to be transferred is converted into the emoticon text provided in the receiver side IM based on the emoticon conversion information(S165). The message including the converted emoticon text is transferred to the receiver side IM client(S175).
