A text input apparatus in a mobile terminal and a method thereof are provided to conveniently input double consonants in a Hangul input mode by using a specific key, without the necessity of pushing keys many times. A mobile terminal comprises a keypad part(10), a shift key input part(50), a control part(20), and a memory(30). The keypad part(10) comprises a plurality of keys. The shift key input part(50) converts input modes for the keys. The control part(20) changes an input code allocated to the keypad part(10) according to the input of a shift key. The memory(30) stores the commands inputted from the keypad part(10) and the shift key input part(50). When a command is inputted from the shift key input part(50) in a Hangul input mode and a specific key is inputted from the keypad part(10), the consonant or double consonant corresponding to the inputted key is changed into the double consonant or consonant. |
